CRITERIA TO RENEW:
1. Previous recipient of First United Methodist scholarship.
2. Financial need will be a consideration.
3. Must show competence in chosen field or general academic achievement.
4. Must show proof of enrollment, with a minimum of 6 units in a post secondary
education/training school before funds will be transferred.
5. Renewal is annual. Recipients may apply on an equal basis with new applicants
in following years for additional scholarships. Award amounts will vary each
year.
*Include with your Scholarship Application:
1. One letter of recommendation from either a non-relative, an instructor, a church
member, or an employer, preferably one who has worked with you and knows you
well.
2. Your personal statement, including your goals, college and work experience,
activities in the church, volunteer work, and leadership. (200 Word Maximum)
3. Completed financial form.
4. A copy of your most recent transcript.

1. Active participant in First United Methodist Church of Redding.
2. High school seniors, currently enrolled college students, trade school students,
and re-entry students.
3. Financial need will be a consideration.
4. Must show competence in chosen field or general academic achievement.
5. Must show proof of enrollment, with a minimum of 6 units in a post secondary
education/training school before funds will be transferred.
6. Scholarship is for one year only. Recipients may apply on an equal basis with new
applicants in following years for additional scholarships.
*Include with your Scholarship Application:
1. Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives, including one from an
instructor and one from a church member, preferably one who has worked with
you and knows you well.
2. Your personal statement, including your goals, work experience, activities in the
church, volunteer work, and leadership. (500 Word Maximum)

5. An interview with the Scholarship Committee is required (to be arranged
individually with each candidate.)
